Forbidden Fruits

She knows she shouldn’t
But she can’t resist
The chest sits before her
Testing her wits
It’s glowing, teasing
She glances around
The room is empty
There isn’t a sound
Her crime will go unnoticed
She’s got nothing to fear
She reaches over
And pulls it near
Releases the latch
Opens the chest
Her eyes widen in shock
And she falls back to her nest
The lid drops
She gets up
And she runs from the room
Quickly, hastily
Moving fast on quick feet
Finally she realises
Her forbidden fruits
Aren’t that sweet.
